A few weeks ago Lee (at Style Bee) introduced a spring mini capsule challenge to select 10 items and style them 10 different ways. My friend, Andrea, (at Seasons and Salt) joined in and then I jumped on board too. I decided not just to create outfits with the 10 items, but to actually wear only these ten pieces for two work weeks, with a weekend break in the middle for laundry.
Here’s a look at the second five looks:
This week, I remixed my skirt with the button down shirt and added a knot and some red lips (which I’m not so sure about) to jazz things up. I originally planned to wear the lace up flats, but the longer skirt length and lace going up my ankle really cut my legs in an unflattering way, so I went with the ankle boots instead. This is a situation where I missed having a few more shoe options that would be a better match for the outfit.
When in doubt, throw on a LBD. This shirt dress from Brass is so easy to wear and care for – machine washable and no ironing. I love how easy it is to add a few fun accessories and call it a complete outfit.
These wide leg pants are some of my favorites in my spring capsule and I look forward to finding new ways to style them. So far, I’ve just paired them with different shirts that I’ve tucked in to show off the high waist and balance the line of the wide legs. My goal for the rest of the capsule is to take some risks and experiment with new ways to style them.
Monochromatic is my jam! I don’t think I ever would have gone head to toe gray without this challenge, so I’m excited to have found a new pairing I love. I really like the understated statement this simple look makes. 😉
Confession: I didn’t wear this. All along I planned this to be my casual Friday look for week 2, but it turned out to be College Day at my school, so teachers were encouraged to wear gear from their university. I have a family dinner over the weekend, so I’ll wear this outfit then instead. I like how the details in the distressing and funky shoes really changes the vibe of a button down shirt. Another capsule challenge success!
It’s a hectic time of year for us teachers, so I hope you’ll understand if I’m going to cut the post a bit short today? I want some time to process the challenge, so I’ll be back in a few days with a full recap and some takeaways!
How is the challenge going for those of you who joined along?
Have a wonderful weekend!
