Fall Capsule: Thanksgiving Break + Black Friday

It has been such a wonderful week away from our regular routine. We were able to enjoy a couple of days up in the mountains, the boys got to ski, we returned home to gorgeous weather, I used the motivation of hosting Thanksgiving to do some long-procrastinated deep cleaning, and then we had our family over for a great meal, wine, games, and laughs.

Here’s a quick look at what I’ve been wearing over break.

I only packed two outfits for out quick getaway. This and my pajamas. If we were in the townhome, I wore my PJs and if we left I wore this. I had thought I’d wear this convertible sweater as a turtleneck, but I loved the option of taking the cardigan on and off for different temperatures. The black tee is long sleeved, so it was perfect on it’s own in the car and at one restaurant that was warm. These boots have some seen better days, but I keep them around for snowy or slushy days that don’t require full-on snow boots.

This has become my lounge around the house uniform for the fall. Nothing special to share, but seeing as this is a blog about what I’m actually wearing I thought I should do just that 🙂 It was one of those days where I started wiping down the counters and the next thing I knew I was scrubbing the stove, dusting shutters, and cleaning the ceiling fans. Then, I got back to actually finishing the counters.

Sweater (Old Navy) / size medium

Tank top (c/o Everlane) / size x-small

style notes //

In my mind, I thought I’d wear a cozy sweater for Thanksgiving. But in reality, it was 72° and our house was even warmer from cooking a turkey all day. The T Top was a natural second-choice not only because of the color, but the boxy, swingy shape keeps cool and hides a food baby. This was my first time wearing the Everlane denim I ordered last week and they were great.

T Top (c/o Jamie and the Jones) / size small

Black denim (Everlane) / size 27 / This is the Modern Boyfriend style. I sized down one to get a straight-leg fit. They felt a little still right out the package as the denim is pretty thick. It has just a bit of stretch and also stretched more as I wore them around the house. I am 5’2″ and they hit right at the top of my foot, so I rolled them, but will probably hem them to be a bit more cropped.

Clogs (Lotta From Stockholm) / size 39 / I ordered my regular size and they are just a tad long, I probably could have sized down to a 38.

Black Friday

It can be so easy to get wrapped up in the hype of Black Friday and start over-buying simply for the discount. On the other hand, it can be a great time to snag some of the items that have been on your wishlist at a discount, since many ethical retailers do not offer regular sales. Below are some of the deals from my favorite, most worn brands.

  • Nisolo has a handful of styles marked down this weekend. These Mariella Mules have recently caught my eye and I love my D’orsay oxfords and chelsea boots (I got my regular size in both, still working on breaking in the boots). Use this link to get $25 off your first purchase.
  • Brass Clothing is offering 15% off your entire order with code HOLIDAY15. My favorites are the Ponte Pant (size small), the A-line (size medium), and the Tank Maxi (size medium).
  • Natalie Borton is sending along a giftcard for future purchases with orders. You can also get 10% off with code PAIGE10
  • Jamie and the Jones is making an effort to make ethical fashion more accessible by giving a 35% discount on the Blank Canvas Tee this weekend with code SLOWFASHION, which brings it to under $80!
  • Vetta Capsule has 15% off the entire with code BLACKFRIDAY. Plus they’re planting a tree for every order. I love the reversible jumper dress and the culottes.
  • Everlane does not run any Black Friday sales, but for the past few years has donated all profits from the day to a Black Friday Fund. This year’s goal is to raise enough money to feed 4,000 factory workers healthy meals (watch more here). So, maybe this is a great day to invest in that $100 Cashmere, the Day Heels, or some denim.
  • Imby is giving 20% off your entire order with code GIVINGTHANKS. This is one of my favorite dresses and I love this mustard color of this top.
  • Belvele is offering $50 off your $100 purchase with code THANKFUL.

Alright, I’m off to enjoy the Today Show, a piece of pumpkin pie, and some coffee. Then, it’s time to put up the Christmas tree! Have a wonderful weekend.

Have you found any great Black Friday deals from Ethical Brands that you can share with us?
