Fourth of July: Red, White, and Blue Maternity Style

I hope you all had a great 4th of July! It’s definitely one of my favorite holidays. We usually try to have a low key day since we know the kids will be running around and up way too late. Yesterday was no different – the entire family managed to take naps in the afternoon before we started the festivities.

We’re lucky to be able to see the fireworks from our cul-de-sac, so we usually have family over to grill out, then we move our chairs to the bottom of the driveway to watch the show! There are always a ton of neighborhood kids out, so the boys especially are usually running around all afternoon and evening.

I have a lot of blue and white in my maternity wardrobe, so I knew finding something to wear wouldn’t be hard. I didn’t go through my box of summer clothing like I normally do, so I┬átotally forgot I had these stars and stripes flip flops and this star print chambray shirt from last year. I saw someone wearing the shirt on Instagram and it reminded me to go find it and it was like Christmas in July when I discovered the shoes too! They were perfect with my favorite striped dress┬áto make it feel more festive.

Here is a similar shirt and a super cute dress you could buy now on sale and save for next summer.

For me, the Fourth is kind of bitter sweet – I love everything about the actual holiday, but on the other hand it seems like summer break really flies by after the 4th of July and we’ll be talking back to school before you know it!

What about you – is the 4th of July the start to your summer or does it feel like the beginning of the end?
