Little Black Jumpsuit

One thing I have really come to appreciate since paring down my wardrobe is comfort. I don’t quite know why I never prioritized how comfortable an item was before, but I know I used to have plenty of clothes that just didn’t feel good to wear. Hemlines I always tugged at, sleeves that felt snug, itchy sweaters that required a layer underneath…you know what I’m talking about. But, as I tried on every single item I owned during my initial closet cleanout the difference between comfortable and uncomfortable because very obvious…and very important to me.

When Thred Up gave me the opportunity to shop their online secondhand shop for a holiday look, I looked for something that could multitask year-round in my wardrobe (the red Boden dress I shared last week) and also something that would actually be comfortable to wear, especially in December (basically how can I avoid bare legs and tights). This LOFT jumpsuit, which I got for $29.99 brand new with tags, was the perfect find. And I have to thank Andrea, my wardrobe consultant BFF (at Seasons and Salt), for suggesting the jumpsuit option to me in the first place!

Dress It Up

It’s easy to create a dressier look by adding a bit of sparkle, heels, and a leopard clutch. I honestly love this look. I feel just ‘done up’ enough, but still true to my style (aka, not fussy). I feel at ease in this outfit, which can be a challenge when dressing up. And the jumpsuit makes just enough of a subtle statement to give me a little confidence boost. And a little trick – I took an old gem statement necklace and shortened it a bit to create a more updated choker style necklace. thred-up-holiday-jumpsuit-3

A Night On The Town

Another styling option is to add some heeled boots and a moto jacket to keep warm for a night on the town. I think this look would be great out at a restaurant or bar when open-toed shoes aren’t practical in the winter months. The all black look feels slightly chic, totally pulled together,  and a little fancy and fierce. And again, this is an outfit I feel comfortable in and can’t wait to wear (you know…if we ever go to a fancier date or party 😉).thred-up-holiday-jumpsuit-2 thred-up-holiday-jumpsuit-1

Jumpsuit (LOFT via Thred Up, similar, love this one (both 50% off for Cyber Monday)) / heels (old from Old Navy, similar) / bracelet and clutch (Purple Peridot) / black boots (super old hand me down) / moto jacket (old from White Plum, similar, love this burgundy one, wool version)

And the best part…not only is the jumpsuit a comfortable holiday option, but it’s just as easy to wear to work (as seen here) and is a practical option year-round. Yay for finding another closet workhorse!

Have you tried a jumpsuit yet? It’s not something I every pictured myself in, but I’m sold!
