saving the best for last

Today’s weather took a turn for the winter…rain and snow!  I paired black and white layers in different prints and textures, plus a great statement necklace for today’s outfit.

This cardigan is from Target, but I actually purchased it from a friend’s instagram closet and it’s a perfect example of why I want to simplify my wardrobe. I purchased it in October and haven’t worn it yet.  I love this cardigan – it has so many options to be dressed up or down, it’s cozy, neutral, and has a great textured look to add interest to any outfit.

Why haven’t I worn it? I was “saving” it because I loved it so much.  I definitely save the best for last on my dinner plate, and apparently in my closet too.  Instead, I should have been experimenting with creating fun new ways to wear this cardi rather than moving it to the bottom of the pile so I could be sure I wore all my other so-so sweaters first.  Can you say crazy?!

Yep, this capsule wardrobe project is a must – my fave items should be worn all the time!

Do you save the best for last or do you repeat your favorite items over and over?

rocksbox necklace

This amazing necklace is from Rocksbox. It’s like Netflix for jewelry. You create profile and select items for your wishlist, then for $19/month you are sent sets of 3 pieces of jewelry from high end designers (think Kendra Scott, House of Harlow, etc.). Once you are finished wearing the pieces you can send them back to swap for a new set. I had seen Instagram posts about Rocksbox, but given the big name designers I figured it was out of my price range, so I was shocked to learn how affordable it is.  Plus, each month you’re given $10 to put toward purchasing a piece from your set if there’s something you fall in love with.  I may be purchasing this necklace – I’m not sure I can part with it!

Best part…use code STYLETHISLIFEXOXO on their site to get your first month free!
