Hi, my peeps! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend filled with fun. We had soccer games, Halloween Carnivals (at 2 schools), sleepovers, baby showers, and all our normal family stuff. It was a whirlwind weekend, but so fun.
Last Monday we planned to hit the pumpkin patch after school, then our second came home early from school with an earache. So, today we’re giving it another try. I’m also at a Tech Professional Development class all day at the Ed Center. I knew I needed to layer to be prepared for hot or cold meeting rooms, and whatever weather we have after school. The forecast says it will be in the low 60s, but that can feel like 80 around here if the sun is out.
So, I started with a plain long-sleeve tee, added a plaid, then brought along my utility jacket just in case. Jeans and booties were a given.
On a side note, besides my tee, my entire outfit was purchased second-hand. Mostly via poshmark. Kind of an interesting revelation. I am a big fan of thrifting and buying second hand, but I know it can be a bit overwhelming. Here are some great tips from one of my new fave bloggers, Andrea.
As for online second-hand sites, such as ThredUp or Poshmark, I think the tips still work. Online “thrifting” is great if you are looking for a super specific item, brand, or style.
- Be persistent. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, keep searching every few days as new items pop up every day.
- Be patient. Because you may not find what you’re looking for right away, you have to be patient while waiting for the perfect item to pop up.
- Know what you’re looking for. The nice thing online is that you can search for specific brands or item details and don’t have to sort through hundreds of items like you do in a store. If you just hop on one of those sites and randomly browse it can get overwhelming very quickly (just like walking into a thrift store with no direction).
