Boy, for a while there I didn’t think I’d even have enough outfits to warrant a blog post this week. We’ve been on Spring Break and it has been looooow key, which means lots of comfies for this momma. Leggings, joggers, tees, and sweatshirts were pretty much my uniform this week. And we had a huge snowstorm, so that was a PJ-all-day situation. Luckily, we did go out to dinner and I went for a haircut, so I managed to squeeze in a few regular outfits to share 🙂
I pretty much lived in some version of this outfit all week. Maybe the leggings were swapped for the joggers and the sweater for a tee or sweatshirt, but this is an idea of my typical mom style. A hat (check this one out from Love Your Melon) to cover messy hair, little to no makeup, and comfy shoes for playing outside, running errands, or going to the zoo.
Out to Dinner
We had a psuedo-date night this week. We went to a nice dinner for my mother-in-law’s birthday. Kind of a date, because the kids were at home with a babysitter, but it was with my in-laws, so not totally a date 😉 My mom gave me these high-waist, wide leg pants last year, but I never got to wear them because I was pregnant. I shortened them a bit to update the style and may even go a bit shorter. They are so comfy and easy to wear. I added a blouse and heels to make them feel a bit more dressed up for our dinner. And, of course, a clutch when all I need is a wallet and lipstick!
Haircut and Errands
I had an afternoon hair appointment and met my sister at Target to stock up on Easter Bunny items. Comfy jeans, a sweater, and broken in ankle boots is one of my favorite looks and it’s so easy to wear. I love these Levi’s boyfriend jeans as another option to my skinny jeans.
I have found my new weekend mom outfit. This nursing-friendly jumpsuit is so comfy and makes me feel so pulled together, even when busy mom life has me frazzled! I added a denim jacket and sneakers for a grocery store trip and play time with the girls while the boys were off skiing for the day. I’m not a huge fan of this denim jacket – I love the color, but it’s more cropped than I’d like, so I’ll be keeping my eye out for a replacement if I feel I reach for this one enough to justify a new one.
One thing I love about the capsule is that even when I’m wearing lounge clothes I still only choose from my 40 items. So, even just hanging around the house I feel a little more pulled together than a grubby, old pair of sweats and ratty tee. I also would typically save this jumpsuit for a “bigger” day – one where I was going to be out and about, but it’s laundry day and all of my comfies are in the wash, so it forced me to wear it. And I love that because it’s silly to save my favorite items for “important” days. The capsule forces me not to save my best outfits for last.
