My last official maternity outfit post. I do love this bump and I have loved dressing it, but it will be nice to get back into some of my other clothes – I’ve missed them. Still, I’m so glad I’ve had Instagram and the blog to document my bump growth this time around.
Don’t get me wrong, it will be a while in postpartum land where nothing fits and nothing looks right and I’ll live in the same 5 items that I can find that do work. I’m not sure how that will affect my outfit posts, but I will definitely keep it real here. I’m not going to pretend that I have a figure that bounces right back or that I can wear non-maternity clothes right away. I will post what I wear, when I wear it, and let you know if I have any magic tricks (aka shapewear) up, or rather under, my sleeves.
With that being said, my capsule will be on a small break. I have already sold or donated over half of my previous capsule as shirts have become too short or items have fallen out of season. Between now and September it will be pure postpartum survival mode, which I’ll post more about as I work through it. Basically, if it fits, is comfortable, and is nursing friendly, I’m wearing it.
Speaking of, I already mentioned in a few posts that I swapped out some of my small maternity items with a few new tanks (here and here) that would work at the end of pregnancy, but also through postpartum and this Pink Blush top is one of them. Of course, it’s stripes (shocking), but I love that is isn’t necessarily a maternity cut. It’s a super lightweight sweater that I will definitely include in my fall capsule – it will look nice enough for work and be perfect layered throughout fall.
Part of my “capsule” way of thinking when I’m shopping is asking myself if I will be able to use an item for the long haul? Is it a versatile piece that can be layered for casual and work? And at this point I want to buy things that will be a bit more forgiving around the tummy so I can wear it during the 4th trimester and maybe even beyond. This maternity top fits the bill, so a cute maternity shirt will become a cute postpartum shirt!
I’m 38 weeks and 6 days pregnant and tomorrow is the big day! Today we did some last minute errands and cleaning. Tonight I’m going to eat a giant cheeseburger since I can’t eat tomorrow before my c-section and then we’ll probably go for ice cream as our last family of 5 date! We also did bowling and a movie yesterday to celebrate!
