Summer 10×10: Outfits 9 & 10

And another 10×10 mini capsule challenge is done! I did my first 10 item capsule over the spring with Lee (from Style Bee) and I loved the fresh outlook it gave me on my wardrobe. And after completing this one I still feel the same – there is really something to the saying ‘less is more’.

Here’s a look at my final two looks I created from these 10 items.

Outfit 9:

To create a different look from my maxi dress, I added the striped tank (knotted to give it the correct proportions) as a top layer. I love the way this turned out and will definitely be repeating this with other tops. It’s a great way to make this dress a big multitasker in my closet.

Outfit 10:

This shorter tank dress has been a major player the past two weeks – I have worn it 4 different times! It’s simple, super soft, and cool on these scorching summer days. I had a quick meeting for a summer course I took and I added the longline cardigan to make the dress more professional – it was so comfy I ended up wearing it most of the day.

I’m going to take a few days to think about the experience and what I’ve learned from this style challenge, so I’ll get more into that next week. It was definitely different this time around since I didn’t have to plan for work and seeing the same people every day. Until then…

I highly, highly recommend you go check out how Andrea (from Seasons and Salt) is finishing up her 10×10 – she has an amazing eye for style and makes every outfit look just cool enough and just chic enough. #goals

    1. I love what you did with the tank dress by adding a tank top. That’s where I need to think more; how to create layers to do something different. I seem to struggle with anything more creative than t-shirt with a sweater on top.

      1. Thank you, Andrea! Yes, this mini capsule really forced me to look at new ways to wear my dresses, which I’m really excited. I’ve been loving having a little more freedom to wear dresses, but always feel that while they’re easy, they’re not the most versatile – I’m happy to be proven wrong!!

    1. You are too kind! 😉

You’ve really rocked this challenge well. I love how you added subtle layers for unique looks. That tank dress doubles as a ‘skirt’ really well! And that longline cardigan really changes the look of that IMBY dress. Well done my friend! Can’t wait to read your reflections.
