Winter Capsule: Week 3 Recap

Another week is over already? I know everyone is saying this, but I cannot believe that  this time next week we’ll be in a Christmas morning blur! I have a lot to do next week to get ready – wrapping, stockings, cookies, but it will all work out. I’m most excited to have two weeks off work to focus on the family and fun stuff! Are you all ready for the holidays?

It was a bit of an unusual week in terms of what I wore, so this week won’t be my typical recap, but I’ll share what I have that came from my winter capsule.

Monday:

ugly sweater

Today was a dedicated Ugly Sweater Day at school, so I didn’t put together an outfit from my capsule. A few years ago I grabbed a few ugly shirts at the local thrift store for an Ugly Sweater 5K. I couldn’t decide which shirt was ugliest, so I decided to wear all three for fun! A snowman print mock turtleneck under a black cropped tee with dancing flamingo Santas all topped with a stereotypical “teacher” vest. Personally, I prefer the ugly sweaters that are actual sweaters that are just really ugly as opposed to the ones they sell in stores now for the sake of Ugly Sweater parties.

Tuesday:

SNOW DAY!! We had enough snow by early this morning that they cancelled school all around our area. We spent a cozy day at home, so I stayed in pajama pants and sweatshirt. I didn’t think that was necessarily blog-worthy, so no outfit pics. 😉

Wednesday:

chunky knits and boots 2 winter boots

The rest of the week is finals for students, so pretty casual and relaxed for teachers. It was super cold and still very snowy, so I knew I wanted to wear my snow boots. I got these years ago at T.J. Maxx, but I’ve seen lots of similar styles. The jeans and plain gray sweater seemed a bit boring, so I added a knit red infinity scarf that I’ve had for years. I don’t love this outfit, but I can’t put my finger on the reason why. It just seems kind of blah. I think next time I wear this sweater I’ll layer a shirt underneath.

Thursday:

love your melon beanie

First, I need everyone to check out Love your Melon! It’s an organization run by college students all across the country who are doing great things. For every hat or beanie that is purchased, they deliver a hat to a child who is battling cancer. There are some amazing images on their Instagram account that break and warm my heart all at once. I don’t know if I’m cool enough to rock the beanies, but I’m sure as heck going to try. It was only 20-something degrees today, so I risked bad hair to wear a hat!!

One of my former students is a captain at the Regis University chapter of LYM. If you order one, choose Regis University at checkout for a shout out to the great work they’re doing.beanie and plaid 2

Alrighty, on to the rest of the outfit. Math nerd alert. Since today is the opening of Star Wars, the entire math department is wearing these t-shirts designed by the Calculus students! For another day of finals, I paired the tee with leggings, a buffalo check flannel, and boots.

Friday:

deer tee and cardigan rockbox bracelet

It’s our last day of finals, then 16 days off work/school!! I wore this tee and cardigan combo a few weeks ago on a Saturday visit to see Santa, but since I only wear this tee for the holidays I decided to repeat the outfit.

I just got this Jenny Bird bracelet from Rocksbox last night and I LOVE it! It makes a statement without being too blingy and I love the mix of metals. Try Rocksbox free with code STYLETHISLIFEXOXO.
