Winter Capsule: Week 4 Recap

This week we are off school for Winter Break, but I still wanted to share with you the combinations I’m putting together from my capsule. These are more casual looks – more comfy for running around after the kids and finishing up errands. Thursday and Friday were my Christmas Eve and Christmas looks. Our family doesn’t do anything too fancy, just a time to get together for fun, food, and craziness!

This year we decided to start a new tradition…sibling secret Santas. They drew names out of a hat for who they would buy a gift for this year. I love this idea and I know it’s one we’ll do again and again. The fun part is seeing what each kid chooses as a gift. The hard part is that we’ve had to take them shopping in shifts! Today I did a couple of Target runs with different kids to give them an opportunity to shop.

Legging, layered tees, plaid slip-ons to feel festive, and a beanie to cover my unwashed hair! Please check out Love Your Melon…it is an organization run entirely by college students across the country whose goal is to get a hat to every child battling cancer. I want to thank the Regis University Love Your Melon crew for letting me spread the word about this great cause!! I never really thought I was a beanie kind of gal, but I actually have worn it a ton and I love it!

I also always carry my Lily Jade diaper bag when I go out with the kids. I love that it can be carried as a backpack and free up my hands!

Today I paired my burgundy tee with black skinnies and my new lace up flats for a hair appointment. I added a few fun accessories. My necklace and chain bracelet are both from Rocksbox (it’s like Netflix for jewelry – try a month free with code STYLETHISLIFEXOXO) and my leopard bracelet is from Love Andrea’s Closetย and is 10% off with code WINTER.

Lace up flats have been showing up all over instagram and decided it was a new trend I wanted to try! I got both nude (from Gap) and black (from Old Navy) using credit card rewards and I love the way they look. I think they add a bit of edginess to an outfit. It looks like they may both be sold out, but I linked some similar ones at the bottom of the post.

Today was spent mostly at home and a quick run out to finish up a few gift details. This is the same burgundy tee I wore yesterday with some joggers and sneakers. Mom style at it’s best ๐Ÿ™‚joggers and new balance 1

It’s Christmas Eve! We spent the day hanging out around the house and prepping for a family dinner at our place. It was a small get together and nothing fancy. I wore this Brass Clothing shirt dress because it’s really much more comfortable than any pants I own. Plus, I always get hot when we have family get togethers with the extra bodies and oven going and wine flowing (plus I’m usually holding a baby), so I didn’t want to wear a sweater.

Christmas Day means an early morning and a whirlwind of gifts with the kids before we head to my in-laws for brunch. I knew we’d just be eating, drinking, and watching the kids play and open gifts, so I wanted another comfy outfit. The Brass Clothing dress it is again! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I am on their email subscription list and a month or so ago they sent out a style email with the idea of pairing the shirt dress with jeans, so I thought today was a perfect day to give it a try. Plus, I’m not going to lie, I indulged in good food, cookies, and drinks a bit too much this week, so everything is feeling tight and yuck. This dress is so forgiving (and easy to nurse in), so it just felt best to wear.
